Flavor of the Month

When I wrote “Vodka Nation” last year, there were at least 500 different flavors of the spirit (as noted by Jason Wilson in Boozehound). That number continues to grow. Last month Huffington Post reported on Stolichnaya’s latest offering, Salted Karamel—a name open to ridicule although the Russian word is, in fact, карамель. HuffPost describes it as “not actually salty, although we did notice some buttery notes in the aroma (you know, underneath the vodka smell).” But if you think that’s absurd, check out the site’s slideshow of the worst vodka flavors, including PB & J, dill, and scorpion.
