Een Kleine Pauze

No, I have not seen the season finale of Mad Men, hence no roundup of whoever died. And someone has to die, right? Was it Megan? Pete? Don’s liver? In any event, I am currently doing research overseas (Ketel One in Holland) and will be back Wednesday. On my office bookshelf is a terrific history of Amsterdam by Geert Mak (Amsterdam: A Brief Life of the City). If anyone can recommend a fairly definitive history of Rotterdam, do let me know.

For those with paid access to WSJ.com, in the meantime, I recommend the reviews by Max Watman (on the exploding deer population) and Thomas M. Donnelly (on Gettysburg). Jonathan V. Last has a solid review of Mary Eberstadt’s latest work, How the West Really Lost God, over at The Weekly Standard.
