Pixar Gets Snubbed

Until recently it seemed inconceivable that a nomination list for best animated feature would not include a Pixar movie. But that was before Planes. In any event, the unthinkable has finally happened.

Reports Variety:

While all three Globes nominated animated features—”The Croods, “Despicable Me 2″ and “Frozen”—come from the Hollywood majors, there was one conspicuous omission: a Pixar film.

The trio muscled past Disney-Pixar’s “Monsters University,” making this the first time that a Pixar entry has not been nominated by the Globes since the animated feature category’s induction in 2007. What’s more, a Pixar pic has won the award every year except 2011 when “The Adventures of Tintin” beat out “Cars 2.”

I’ve heard good things about Monsters University so it’s unfortunate that it’s been left out in the cold—right alongside Turbo. (Variety also notes Pixar will not be in the running for any award next year since The Good Dinosaur and Inside Out will be released in 2015.)
