As I noted yesterday at weeklystandard.com, it was sort of a fluke that the chicken club sandwich from the room service menu at the W Hotel ended up representing Washington, D.C., in Adam Richman’s Best Sandwich in America (premiering on June 6 on the Travel Channel). During a conference call, Richman sounded almost apologetic explaining how this “secret sandwich”—only guests can order it—was chosen for the show. Richman also spoke of his criteria that barred hamburgers, hot dogs, and sausages (which is why Ben’s Chili Bowl did not make the list). And the host also knows better since he once lived here (in southwest) when he worked at Arena Stage. Hope he comes back and discovers a different sandwich at, say, C.F. Folks.
